Top 5 Ways To Make Money From Your Blog

There are hundreds of different ways to monetize your blog. To maximize your profit, you have to take into account a few variables.

  1. Traffic- How much traffic is your blog receiving daily?
  2. Readership - How many people are subscribed to your RSS feed?
  3. Newsletter - Do you have a subscriber list? If so how many subscribers

Depending on how you answer these questions will determine how you should monetize your blog.

Top 5 ways to earn money from your blog

1. Advertising - Advertising is the best way to earn money on your blog. Depending on how much traffic you are receiving daily will determine how much money you will make from advertising sales.

My advice

Establish yourself in the blogging world. Develop your website with good unique content and build your readership. After you have developed a good amount of daily traffic, customize your website so that you can offer many different advertising spots on your blog. Statistically, those 125×125 banner ads that most people have on their blog rarely get clicks. On the other hand, advertisers will pay big bucks to have their 125×125 banner featured on your blog. I recommend using OIO Publisher to automate your advertising sales.

2. Affiliate Commissions - Affiliate sales comes in second as one of the top five ways to earn money from your blog. Their are a few different ways to earn a substantial amount of income on your blog through affiliate marketing.

  • Reviews - Depending on what your blog’s subject, you can write a review on a new product or service that has just recently launched. Write up a review explaining the details of the product or service and be sure to include your affiliate link at the end.
  • Email Marketing - Email marketing is the easiest way to earn huge amounts of affiliate commissions and it all depends on how many people are subscribed to your list. My advice would be to dedicate a section on your blog to your newsletter and offer your readers something for free. You want to give your readers an incentive to subscribe to your newsletter. Once you start developing your subscriber list you do not always have to send out promotions. I like to send out a broadcast to my subscribers when I have updated my blog. This gives my subscribers the sense that I am not just sending out email promotions with my affiliate link inside. If you do not have an email marketing service, I highly recommend Aweber.

3. Paid Reviews - Again depending on the amount of traffic your blog is receiving daily will determine how much money you will make from writing paid reviews. If your blog is receiving 20,000 visitors a day and you offer paid reviews on your blog, you would probably be looking at close to $700 just for writing a review on your blog about someone else’s blog or product. This drives some of your traffic their way. I recommend signing up for ReviewMe. ReviewMe is a service that pretty much runs an appraisal on your site to determine how much you should charge for one review.

4. Google Adsense - Adsense is the best way to make money from your blog in the beginning stages. Google will navigate through your site to determine your sites content and then display relevant text link ads. Of course with adsense you will be paid for each click that is made on your blog. Adsense is also good for those who are receiving traffic volumes over 100,000 a day. I recommend adding adsense to your blog in the early stages but only display the adsense blocks in a few places, you don’t want to scare your readers away with tons of adsense ads.

5. Kontera Conent Links - Kontera is very similar to adsense, only thing separating them apart is the way the ads are displayed. Kontera navigates through your blog’s content and selects certain keywords to feature an ad link. So the ad will actually be featured as a link inside your blog’s content and when someone hovers over that link an ad will pop up, allowing the reader to click it. You will earn money for each click that is made on one of the Kontera content link ads. I recommend adding this revenue stream in the beginning stages as well because the ads will be relevant to your sites content.

Do you have a blog already? If so, what is your number one income resource? Post your response in the comments section.
